pay it forward...

21.1.09

Ok, so i posted in Renee's blog, and this means i am in for a treat... most importante it means althouth i only get ONE GIFT, i must send THREE:)

If you haven't seen the movie 'Pay It Forward' the concept works like this: When someone has done a good deed for you rather than doing something nice in return to that person you Pay It Forward by doing something nice for someone else. I'll send handmade gifts to the first 3 people who commit to also Pay It Forward by posting in the comments you'd like to join.

The gifts will be out within the next 6 months. In return you post a Pay It Forward promise on your blog and then send out your handmade gifts within your 6 month time frame.

So, are you in???? if you are, please send me your address to zeliamateusevora@yahoo.com, ok, so, i should get to work.... oh, don't forget to mention your favourite colors, and, oh! have i posted this photo too many times?

knitknitknitknit....

28.11.08

They aren't as magical as the old ones, but they are warm feet and soul... so, the "string"long hours are well spent in their company... i missed this.
do you understand?
Entendes?

Craftoxitocyn/Craftoxitocina

11.11.08

Hoje temos encontro marcado no café do Zé para um “cast-on”...
É a craftoxitocina a funcionar em pleno.
Seriamente a pensar fazer workshop de meias aqui:)
Yesterday at the local yarn shop i went to look for “portuguese knitting needles” (of course they didn't have them, but they should) so i asked if they had cable needles. First they didn't have the size i wanted, for socks i said, but then they did really.
Luciana, whom i didn't know yet, was there and asked me if i knitted socks. I said yes id do.... so we chatted, she needed some help, she had sock yarn from Rosa a friend gave her...
What a coincidence. I had these on, so i took off my boot and everyone admired them:) i gave her my contact and
this afternoon, we're meeting at Zé's café for a cast-on.
It's craftoxitocyn working at it's best.
Seriously thinking of making a sock workshop it my town:)

knitting your socks-Tricotar meias

21.8.08

I guess if you knit your own socks you'll understand.
I am sitting at this family party and everyone is actually just doing nothing or playing cards.
So then i get bored and i pull out my knitting, entering my quiet world.
When i look up i see twisted faces and i know most women there think i am nuts. Except one girl you actually wants links for handspun yarns and wants to learn knitting (she was an art student); the funny think was this guy who buys a lot of socks. I once went to his house, and he doesn't allow anyone in his house with shoes on, makes you take off your shoes and put on slippers or socks, he has tons of clean ones at his doorstep.
He looks up to me and says, its amazing how you go to the trouble of knitting socks, when you can buy them for nothing.
And i say. But those socks mean nothing.
And he says: you're right. And he gazes at the socks. Then he shows them to this other guy, reads the knitting instructions, and says: its wonderful that you knit them. And i am knitting and thinking: No way i can explain the pleasure of it!
