I'm off on vacation... and i will be in and out of the house, i think... but at least i'll be breathing some fresh air, sitting on the beach, knitting a new pair of socks... trying out lace this time, and finishing an old pair... and reading Mia Couto (yes, V)

Estou finalmente de férias... vou andar dentro e fora, acho... mais fora, espero... a respirar ar puro, sentada na praia, a tricotar um novo par de meias... desta vez tento arrendadas... ah, a terminar um outro par.... a ler Mia Couto (sim, V:)

knitting like life...

Knitting or crafting doensn't always turn out as expected... this cowl is just the PERFECT color 1001 (sock yarn i bought at Retrosaria), but then, it's my pattern, and turned out, maybe too thin for this cowl... or maybe not - help me decide!

O tricot nem sempre se tranforma naquilo que pensamos... esta cor é A COR - PERFEITA, é a 1001 que comprei na retrosaria... e adoro-a... mas a gola ficou demasiado larga... ou talvez não, ainda estou a decidir... ajudem-me!

Happy Monday (and bench monday!!!)

Com algumas amigas queridas de férias... ainda custa mais a passar o tempo... especialmente porque me falta uma semana, para ir de férias também... Já estou a pensar nos projectos que posso levar comigo no saco... para a praia e campo... e claro, serão umas meias... agora aproveito para andar com o pé ao ar... mas sei que quando o frio aperta é bom ter uma meia bem quentinha... Quem nunca experimentou fazer meias, aconselho vivamente.

Mesmo antes das férias vou sortear esta bonequinha.... por isso, podem deixar aqui os vossos cometários, se querem tentar a Vossa sorte!!!

Some of my dear friends are on holidays, which makes it even harder to wait for my own, exactly a week from now... i am already planning the projects i will take with me to the beach and countryside... and as always, socks are such a great thing to carry around in your bag! Now it's fine to have my feet out, but when cold strikes, it's always nice to have a good pair of hanmade socks!!! If you never tried to make a pair, i highly reccomend it!
Just before i go i will pick out the winner for this dollie, so if you want her, please leave a comment!

Olivia

Se nunca leram um livro da Olivia do Ian Falconer... leiam. Eu sei! É um livro para crianças, blábláblá... mas eu comprei todos os exemplares para mim, embora façam as delícias do meu filho, fazem especialmente as minhas... ler e ver a Olivia, é um retornar à infância, relembrar o como é bom ter imaginação... que podemos voar com ela e ser o que quisermos, de vez em quando! Inspirado na sua própria família, as personagens são de desenhar sorrisos no rosto... para além de tudo o mais, a mãe da Olívia e a própria Olivia sabem costurar!!!
No pinhal das Artes havia uma artesã que vendia carteiras da Olívia, e eu nem queria acreditar que havia tecido da Olívia e eu nunca tinha visto... claro que comprei a carteira, e claro que mal pûs as mãos num computador com internet, fui comprar tecidos da Olivia....
Claro tambem, mal chegaram, cortei-os logo para fazer o quê???
pois....
A “Olivia” (do tecido preto) nunca chegou á loja... foi vendida logo que chegou ao flickr!
A outra... bem, vai para lá (acho)!

If you never read Olivia by Ian Falconer... well go read one! I know! It's a book for children, blábláblá... but i bought all of them for myself, and they do delight my son, they truly delight me... reading and looking at Olivia, is like going back to being a child, remembering how wondrful it is to have an imagination... that it's ok to fly away with it too, that we can be anything we want, once in a while! Inspired in his own family, the caracters are most likely to draw a smile on your face... and, let me tell you, Olivia and her mother can sew too!!!
At pinhal das artes there was a girl selling small Olivia wallets, and i couldn't believe my sight! Olivia fabric... of scourse i bought a wallet, and as soon as i laid my hands on a computer with internet, i bought Olivia fabrics... then, the minute they arrived home, i cut them up and made....
right...
Oplivia (black fabric) never made it to the shop... she was sold as soon as she hit flickr...
the other one... well, she might go (but maybe i will keep her)!
